Dr. Isenberg graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1975 and completed his otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) and head and neck surgical residency at Indiana University in 1979. He has practiced as a solo, independent ENT and allergy doctor in Indianapolis since 1979. Dr Isenberg is on the medical staffs of several central Indiana hospitals: Community, Indiana University, St. Vincent, Hancock and Riverview. Dr. Isenberg has cared for thousands of patients medically and surgically for over 40 years in his specialties of ear, nose, throat, head and neck surgery, allergy and hearing aid expertise.

Dr. Isenberg has performed research, published books and many peer-reviewed scientific articles. He has served as Director of the POINT Project at Harvard and the Surgeons Outcomes Research Cooperative in Otorhinolaryngology at Duke University. He has authored manuscripts and poems in Pharos, the official publication of Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honorary, and serves on the Editorial Board of the Ear, Nose and Throat Journal. Dr Isenberg has also developed medical products that have improved the lives of many people.

Dr. Isenberg has received the Distinguished Service and Community Service Awards from the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, where he has served on the board of directors. In 2002 and 2003 he received the Otis Bowen Distinguished Leadership Award from the Indiana University School of Medicine, and Community Service Awards from the Indiana State Medical Association and the Indianapolis Medical Society. Dr. Isenberg served as the President of the Dean's Council at the Indiana University School of Medicine (2004 -2006) and as President of Alpha Omega Alpha at Indiana University (2002).

Dr. Isenberg is a life-long runner and founded Medals4Mettle (M4M) (www.medals4metttle.org) in 2005. M4M is a 501c3 public non-profit organization that arranges for endurance race participants to award their finishers' medals to suffering children and adults in recognition of their mettle (courage); encouraging them to persevere. Hundreds of unpaid M4M volunteers around the world assist Dr. Isenberg as he directs the program from his solo independent medical practice. Medals4Mettle has established over seventy chapters globally and awarded over 55,000 medals in over 80 hospitals worldwide. Dr Isenberg has received the Grand Prize of the Human Race from Runners World magazine (2008), the first Arnold P Gold National Humanism in Medicine Award (2009) and the National Jefferson Award (2013). M4M has been integrated into medical student education at the University Of Louisville School Of Medicine since 2008. Dr. Isenberg currently serves as the faculty advisor for M4M at the Indiana University School of Medicine and Volunteer Assistant Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology -Head and Neck Surgery Indiana University School of Medicine.
